While according to constitution citizens in Bangladesh are entitled to exercise their freedom of assembly peacefully, Atikur Rahman Babu, an Awami League leader, has been falsely implicated and thrown behind bars only for peacefully holding rally against ongoing anarchy under reign of Yunus. Eight days after Atikur , Jossore Awami League unit Industry and Commerce affairs Secretary, was illegally detained by cops on January 22. Denied of basic right to legal defence, Atik was sent behind bars, serving twenty days of illegal jail term. Instead of offering the unlawfully jailed leader basic human rights, cops asked Atik to switch his political allegiance and sever ties with Awami League, a sign of total weaponisation of law enforcement by Yunus. As an ardent supporter of Awami League he chose to remain steadfast to stand for Awami League. His freedom to stick to his political belief cost him extension of his illegal jail term as his plea for bail has been rejected by court again, according to family members.
This inhumane tactics employed by cops to force Awami League leader become Yunus loyalist, changing political allegiances explained why Yunus patronising ongoing persecution including mass killing of dissenters.
